I suppose it’s clear from the past 2 weeks that this is a weekly blog, with a post (at least) every Wednesday. I have a few posts ready to get out there, and there have been some interesting developments lately that necessitate more-than-regular postings, but I wanted to make sure my next post was starting a discussion about “Workplace 2.0″, following up on last week’s post. This and working on the GC20.ca wiki (to be more formally launched maybe next week) ensured that there would be no post until the 1-week mark. So, here it is…right after (or ‘above’) this post.
My minimum for a benchmark is to be able to keep up with Etienne Laliberté’s blog (let’s see if he notices this blurb!) – if I can keep up with him, then I know I’m doing something right.
I’m still doing a rolling promotion of the blog, spreading the word to those close and dear. I will want to spread the word out more as I have more posts. Not that I’m new to blogging, I first blogged back in June 2004, but the flavour to this one is quite different.
So far my only outlets to promote the site have been:
- 5 people at work
- 4 family members
- 3 friends
- 2 pets (they weren’t even mine)
- 1 committee meeting chairperson
I have also spread the word over my friend list on Facebook. Thanks Maral for your continued guidance, and pointing me to Facebook Connect.
I can’t say marketing is my forté, and I shouldn’t wait indefinitely until things are perfect either (like a typical public servant), but I should be moving along promoting the word.
I’ve put the link to the GC20.ca Wiki in the sidebar. I still have to develop it quite a bit, and prune the content and so forth, and migrate the content (lots of PDF files of my sources, which I will have to do almost manually). As that is done more, with the rest of the administrative and technical tasks of setting up a blog and wiki, I’ll be more ready to promote the site and (hopefully) post more often. Now to prioritize.
